WHAT WE AIM FOR
Ready To Respond
Our London Fire Crews have a very strict response window which we aim to meet on all calls that we attend.

Our response time targets for 2017 were:

(a) answer 999 calls within an average of 1.4 seconds

(b) answer 92 per cent of 999 calls within seven seconds

(c) dispatch a fire engine to emergency incidents within an average 1mins 40 secs of answering the call

(d) for the first fire engine to arrive within an average of six mins from being dispatched

(e) for the second fire engine (if required) to arrive within an average of eight mins from being dispatched

(f) for first fire engine to arrive within 12 mins in more than 95 per cent of occasions.

(g) for a first fire engine to arrive with 10 mins in more than 90 per cent of occasions.

The London Fire Brigade follows a strict regime when answering 999 calls, responding to them, and taking action for them.

We aim to decrease our crews turnout times when responding to 999 calls across London. Over the course of 2017 the London Fire Brigade has decreased our crew turn out times dramatically. As this chart shows the London Fire Brigade has cut down their crew turn out times over the last 12 years.

As visible in these charts LRPC London Fire Brigade are following the same decline in crew turnout times, allowing us to respond to calls faster. The quicker both services respond the faster, the lower the chance of fatalities and serious injuries.

We also aim to spread fire awareness. We aim to give the public the knowledge needed for them to be able to pick up the phone and dial 999 in any suspected fire scenario, or in any scenario where the fire service may be needed. This may be done by the installation of fire alarms to notify people of a fire earlier than usual, allowing them to call 999 earlier than before. The quicker 999 is dialled, the less of a chance of fatalities or serious injury.

We have increased our advertisement to the public regarding the time people take to call 999. Our advertisement campaign targets many across the city.

To conclude, our aims are to give knowledge to the public, to decrease our turn out times and to decrease the time it takes for people to dial 999. We follow the same aims as London Fire Brigade, however luckily our city populace is a little smaller than London! This information is taken from our gained statistics and statistics gained from the London Fire Brigade.
